PHOTOSHOP/GRAPHIC TABLET USERS! « Thread Started on Nov 2, 2009, 10:10pm »
Okay, so first, I'm happy because I might be getting a graphic tablet for Christmas. I'm looking at the Aiptek Slim 1024 pres-sens 10 x 6.5" that comes with PS Elements 6. I used to have Photoshop CS Extended, but my mother uninstalled it and the install file got corrupted (it was a download). Ran slow as a dead snail on my PC anyway, always said there wasn't enough virtual memory or somesuch thing.
So right now I'm stuck with PSP 5, which I'm pretty sure isn't compatible with any graphic tablets worth buying, and I can't afford to get PS right now. Anyway, what I want to know is how different is Elements from mainstream Photoshop? I mainly use it for rp sigs and manips, but I'm starting to get into purely digital drawing, which is why I want the tablet.
SO, what are your opinions on graphic tablets, particularly the Aiptek, and what are the bare differences between Photoshop and Elements.

Actually, if you are doing digital drawing, I would really recommend Corel Painter. It does digital and traditional Personally, I use both Photoshop CS2 and Corel Painter (neither were really um... bought). Painter is my favorite for just doodling, white Photoshop does much better with photomanips and layout design. Lets see, tablet wise- if you're just starting out, I would recommend an Intuos. If you're familiar and serious about graphic and digital artwork then I would stick with Wacom. I don't personally have experience with the Aiptek though.

Elements is essentially the same as ordinary Photoshop. I was using Elements 2.0 until about two months ago, when I finally decided to start using CS2. Many of the commands are the same and I actually found Elements easier to use. I don't know what 6 is like, but if it's anything like 2, it should be a basic form of Photoshop.
This was made in Elements and this was using CS2. Not much of a difference.
CS is definitely better for drawing, if that's what you're getting your tablet for. I second the Corel Painter recommendation also. I have a Wacom Bamboo, and it came with both Photoshop Elements (which I didn't use at all, I don't even know what version it is...) and Corel Painter Essentials.
