Premade Character Application? Good or bad idea? « Thread Started on Nov 6, 2009, 11:10pm »
I've been batting around the idea of using a built-in/automatic template for character applications on Stranglehold for a while now. Something similar to the submission application on here. I've had the code sorted and up on a test forum, I'm just back and forth on whether this would be a good idea or not. The application would be like so. How it looks when posted (breaks in there are automatic and in the coding): click (also, yes, this was filled out with complete nonsense).
To my organized obsessed brain, it seems like a good idea for organization and whatnot. But then I get to thinking about people who like to "stylize" their applications. Not a whole lot of people on Stranglehold who apply do this, but would it turn you off from the site? I don't want to put up anything that would turn away potential members. As it is right now, we have a standard "copy and paste this form and fill it out" for applications which people end up occasionally messing up somehow by either removing the bold parts, putting other weird coding that is difficult to read (IE: centering the entire application), or something along those lines.

Can't the decoration nutters just modify the post afterwards with some coding, if they really love it that much? Or does this code insert the form even then? I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with it, so I don't know.

They can. If you modify it after it's been posted, it takes you to the normal posting edit screen. I was just thinking in terms of someone going to submit their application, seeing that, and being turned off by not right then being able to post what they'd like for it. Though the majority of people getting all crazy with decoration annoy me, anyway.

It looks fine to me, but I'm used to that type of application. It'd be a great way to get in the basics, and as it has been said, people can style if afterward if they want to.
